Ben Affleck‘s expertly crafted comic political thriller “Argo” grabbed a trio of top honors in the 2012 Florida Film Critics Circle Awards, the group’s chairman, Dan Hudak, announced Tuesday morning.
The FFCC, which has given awards since its founding in 1996, comprises 21 Florida-based film critics (I’m a longtime voting member).
“Argo” was named Best Picture, and was also honored for the work of its director, Affleck (the film’s star) and Chris Terrio, writer of the screenplay, adapted from a Wired magazine feature story.
Also picking up top awards were Daniel Day-Lewis, Best Actor for “Lincoln”; Philip Seymour Hoffman, Best Supporting Actor for “The Master”; Jessica Chastain, Best Actress for “Zero Dark Thirty”; and Anne Hathaway, Best Supporting Actor for “Les Miserables.”
